Survivors of ancient civilization #4 by Hasibe

“An artist is God’s colleague. Sometimes I create artwork to heal mental pressures. Sometimes being alone makes me create works of art.” -Hasibe

Over the last two years, the world has changed thanks to the blockchain and the internet. The traditionally illiquid art market has united with the liquid cryptocurrency-holding public through the use of NFTs.

In this ten part series, we travel virtually to unique locations across the globe to meet individual creators using NFT technology.

In this installment, part six (6) of our series, it is my pleasure to introduce you to a 27-year old photographer and photomontage artist from central Asia.

0. Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Hasibe, I was born in 1994 and I am from Iran. I love Iranian traditional arts. My field of study was carpet design at the university. Currently, I work in photography and photomontage and I try to try different arts.

1. How and when did you get into art?

It might be interesting, I loved art since I was a child and my dream was to become a painter and sell my works in a small shop. Unfortunately, I could not follow and develop my painting talent. But I was about 16 years old when my father gave me a Sony Alpha 100 DSLR camera and he made me enter the world of photography. If I achieve any success in this field, I owe it first of all to my father. I studied carpet design in university and got to know the beautiful and big world of hand-woven carpets, and hand-woven carpets became my second passion in life. As I said, I cannot be limited to one art. Even in an artistic field, I test different styles.

2. What makes you excited to create?

I enjoy creating. The artist is the creator. According to a friend, an artist is God’s colleague. Sometimes I create artwork to heal mental pressures. Sometimes being alone makes me create works of art. Whenever I have free time and especially when I am alone, an energy leads me to create a work of art, now this work can be a photomontage work, a photograph or the creation of small resin works. For me, apart from the fact that different stages of work are enjoyable for me, seeing the result of that work has a deeper pleasure.

3. What is the biggest barrier you face as an artist?

There can be various obstacles for the artist. Considering the conditions of the society in which I live, I can generally point to some factors: the economic conditions of the whole society, which is directly related to the artist market, political, cultural, social, individual conditions, etc. But in my opinion, for a free artist, the biggest obstacle is the mental barriers and limitations of the artist that he can create for himself or herself. Mental obstacles that can keep the artist away from his artistic world.

4. What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as an artist?

My greatest achievement is perhaps that I have been able to bring a part of my soul and heart into the real world as works of art that others can see, relate to and enjoy.

5. Who is one person living or dead you wish you could have lunch with?

Definitely my dear teacher “Manoochehr Sheikh Mozaffari” whom we unfortunately lost two years ago due to coronavirus. He was a person who, with his interest in Kerman hand-woven carpets, great knowledge, many compassions, non-stop efforts, made me fall in love with the Carpet. He was one of the best producers of Kerman carpets, who always tried to bring the name of Kerman carpets back to the world, but unfortunately, he passed away. I am also very interested in the production of handmade carpets.

Maybe soon I will continue my teacher’s path and the name of Farsh Kerman will be heard again. And you can use high quality and beautiful Kerman carpets all over the world. That day is near.

6. What is your favorite color and why?

I have always loved the color yellow and I don’t know why! Maybe because it gives me a sense of balance and dynamism. Now I like many colors. I can name mustard, green, red and dark blue in order. These colors play an important role in Kerman carpet coloring. I like green color for the sense of life, greenness and vitality and I get peace from it.

7. What is your favorite movie?

I don’t watch a lot of movies. But right now I love the Star Wars movie series. And I also have a familiar feeling towards the Chernobyl mini-series. It was one of the best series I saw.

Harry Potter was also attractive and interesting to me.

But Chernobyl always ranks first.

8. If you could move to one place in the world, where would that be?

Definitely an amazing ancient place like Petra in Jordan. I am very interested in ancient buildings and I always dream of living in a city and in a historical house. A beautiful house with traditional decorations and natural materials.

9. What do you think about crypto? Which one is your favorite?

We are still at the beginning of the journey and many do not believe in it, but I see its future bright. In my opinion, the financial system of the world is changing and crypto is a window to the future. I currently prefer Ethereum to other currencies.

10. What new things have you been able to do since working with NFTs?

I can only say this as a joke. I can tell my friends gm and gn from the morning until I sleep. I can check Twitter with one hand and cook with the other. One of the most important things is shale. I didn’t know what shale was before NFT, but now I do it well. I can endure hunger for hours, but I happily check NFTs. And finally, I can list all my new works with pleasure and wait for their sale.

11. How do you feel NFTs will change the financial condition or artists and other creators over the next 10 years?

I think that NFT will improve the social and economic status of artists. I think that NFTs were a miracle for artists in the beginning and artists will get the rights they should have. I think that in the next ten years, the entire monetary system of the world will be digitalized, and the children who will be born in ten years will only see coins and bills in museums, maybe in Metaverse museums! And I think everything will be balanced and the tense path that currencies are going through now will be much more tame. Definitely, NFTs empower artists financially. I think the dream of future children will be to be an artist to build a new world.
