1. Vitaly Dmitriyevich “Vitalik” Buterin was born in Kolomna, Russia, on January 31, 1994.
2. His father, Dima Buterin, is a computer scientist. 
3. He was a child prodigy. His parents moved to Canada when he was young. In third grade, Vitalik was selected as a gifted child in school. There he became drawn to mathematics, economics, and programming.
4. Vitalik has said that his inspiration for decentralization and Ethereum came from a video game. Between 2007–2010 Vitalik spent a lot of his life playing the game World of Warcraft . The maker of the game removed a key feature from one of the main characters, which as a user, he had no sovereignty over. 5. Vitalik found out about bitcoin from his father in 2011, at the age of 17. 
6. Vitalik co-founded Bitcoin Magazine in 2011, which has been referred to as the first serious publication related to cryptocurrencies.
7. In 2012, Vitalik reached out to Jed McCaleb for a job at Ripple who accepted. However, their proposed employment fell apart after Ripple was unable to support a U.S. visa for Buterin.
8. Vitalik wrote the Ethereum whitepaper at the age of 19 in 2013.

16. Vitalik is a coder known to program in at least four languages. Pascal, C++, Basic, Java, and of course Solidity, the programming language Ethereum is written with. 
17. Vitalik is estimated to be worth about $400-500 Million, per Forbes, based on 325,104 ETH in his wallets. At August 2022 prices, that is around $500 million, surpassing $1.5 billion on two occasions in 2021. 
18. Vitalik has received numerous recognitions, including the Forbes 40 Under 40 in 2016, the Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2018, and the Time 100 in 2021.
