Conversation allows for the free exchange of ideas and the opportunity to learn from others. This is why Barbershop Speaks, an organization that hosts educational conversations in barbershops, is so important. By bringing people together to discuss topics like crypto, they are helping to break down barriers and build a more informed and connected community. What’s more, by taking the conversation out of the classroom and into the barbershop, they are making education more accessible and engaging. 

Crypto education has the ability to provide people from marginalized communities with access to financial opportunities that would otherwise be closed off to them. For example, barbershops have long been a place of comfort and community for black men. They are also a place where information is exchanged and where trends are started. Making crypto education more accessible in barbershops would provide a space for underrepresented communities to learn about and invest in cryptocurrency, without having to go through traditional financial institutions.

This would allow them to participate in the cryptocurrency market on their own terms and could help to close the wealth gap. In addition, crypto education can help to empower people from marginalized communities by giving them the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their financial future. Barbershop Speaks helps to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in the new economy.

Barbershop Speaks has held three Crypto Convos over the past two months. One in Miami,  Atlanta, and most recently Philadelphia. Their next stops are Orlando, New York, then Miami again. Their goal is to bring crypto education into barbershops and beauty salons around the country, then around the world.
